- Hear your child read every night and sign their reading record.
- Practise spellings every night.
- Homework to be completed and put in the homework box.
- P.E kit to be worn on P.E days.

During Year 2 we cover several topics including;
Autumn 1 - The Place Where I Live
Autumn 2 – Fighting Fit
Spring 1 - Explorers
Spring 2 – The Farm Shop
Summer 1 – The Wind in The Willows
Summer 2 – Buckets and Spades
Phonics is covered through our RWI scheme of work. The children work hard to decode, segment and blend their sounds to become more familiar with their spelling and reading. RWI is used alongside general English lessons to enhance the children’s learning even further.
Science is covered extensively through our topic sessions. We learn all about:
- Being healthy
- Plants and animals
- Our bodies
- Living things and their environment
- Materials and their properties.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and will need to be returned on Tuesday. Homework will be given in accordance to what the children have been learning that week. Each week homework will consist of:
- Reading of school book
- Maths or literacy
- Common exception words
- Times tables
Children will be heard read once a week in a guided reading session with Miss Hill. Children will only change books when they have been heard to read at home and can fully comprehend their reading book. They will be given a set of questions to answer about the book to be completed at home. This is to be handed in when they change their book the following week. Children choose their own reading books and express an opinion as to why or why not they enjoyed their book. Children are to still bring their book in every day as we have a lot of volunteers that love to listen to your child read.
Uniform All children are expected to wear their uniform at all times. Our uniform is as follows:
- Burgundy sweatshirt or cardigan
- White polo shirt
- Dark grey/black trousers or skirt
During the summer girls are allowed to wear a gingham dress and boys are permitted to wear shorts as long as they follow the colour guidelines.
The prices are on the website here.
Our P.E day is on a Tuesday. Please ensure your child has their kit and appropriate footwear to take part in their P.E lessons.
