Year 4

Welcome to our Year 4 Classes!

To keep up to date with everything that is going on in school and in your child's class then make sure you have signed up to ClassDojo. Speak to your child's teacher if you need to know more or click here.

In Year 4 we have two classes - Housemartins and Wrens.

In Year 4 Housemartins the class teacher is Miss Redrobe. The teaching assistant is Miss Kassam.

In Year 4 Wrens the class teacher is Miss Hunter. The teaching assistant is Mrs Little.

Both classes are made up of children who are aged between 8 and 9 years old. The children follow the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2 which builds upon the children’s learning and experiences in Key Stage 1.

In Year 4 we expect:

  • P.E. kit to be in school on P.E. days which are Wednesday and Fridayfor both classes (click here to see what the correct P.E. kit should be).
  • Swimming things to be in school on Friday, if your class is swimming that term ( September - February Housemartins and March - July Wrens)

Homework

We expect children to read daily with adults at home at least three times a week and reading records are checked daily.

Spellings will be given out weekly and children will have a weekly test.

Children in Year 4 are also expected to do 10 minutes of Times Tables Rock Stars every day. This is also a great bbc bitesize link to use for times tables songs https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z97rdnb#z7nj6rd

Sometimes homework may also focus on a current area of study - we may for instance ask the children to design a poster around their latest topic or based on the class novel etc.

P.E. Kits

Please ensure that your child has the correct P.E. kit in school. All kit should be named and kept in a labelled bag to be left in school. It is advised that the children keep their P.E. bags in school for the duration of the half term, as occasionally your child may use it as spare clothes when an accident has occurred.

P.E kit: A white T shirt, black shorts, and black pumps.

Swimming kit: A swimming costume or trunks, a swimming hat (for boys and girls) and a towel. If your child requires goggles then they must have written permission from a parent/carer.

We like to encourage physical fitness here at Primrose Hill. Every day we take part in a DAILY MILE run using our excellent outside facilities!

Snack

Children have access to a small bottle of milk during the morning session. Children are also allowed to bring in a piece of fruit to eat at this time. Throughout the day children have a water bottle labelled with their name. They can have access to this throughout the day.

If you would like to discuss anything further or have any questions regarding what is being covered in Year 4 then please contact the office or send a message through ClassDojo to make an appointment with the class teacher.
