Primrose Hill: Creating Tomorrow’s Talent - Today

Our modern school building is filled with wonderful children and staff. We believe that a desire for life long learning starts with a good experience at school. We support our children to be the best that they can be and for them to aspire to have a long, purposeful and fulfilled life. We believe in working in partnership with families so that our children can achieve their full potential.

Mission Statement

We will create a happy, vibrant school with equal opportunities for all. A school where every individual is celebrated and highly valued and where care, concern and ambition for each other is central to our work.

We will provide a safe, engaging and supportive learning environment designed to assess and meet the needs of all children and provide them with the skills necessary to be successful lifelong learners and good citizens in an ever-changing world.

Times of the school day

Below you will find the general timings for the school day.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, stakeholders were consulted in Spring 2021 about extending our school day by 15 mins from Sept 2021 in order to help combat some of the lost learning time incurred due to school and class closures.  Of those parents and carers who responded, 92% were in favour of this change.  This change was therefore implemented Autumn 2021 and will initially planned as a temporary measure for one year - however it was agreed to make this a permanent change in Summer 2022.

The time children are in school each week day is 6.5 hours.  This equates to 32.5 hours per week.

Main times of the school day:

8:45am : School opens

12.15pm - 1pm : Lunch is served

3.15pm : End of school day

NB: Lunch is served between 11:30am and 12pm for children in Nursery and Reception.  Pupils in KS1 are served their lunch a little earlier than children in KS2 and start their dinner at 12pm.

Assemblies

Assembly Days:
Class Assemblies : Tuesday
EYFS, Y1 and Y2 : Wednesday
Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 : Thursday
Special events/Dates : Friday

Assemblies will start promptly at 8.55am and last for 25 minutes. They are typically led by a member of the SLT.

Celebration Assemblies are held Wednesday and Thursday. These assemblies celebrate all the good news from the previous week. Children are awarded certificates for good work, good behaviour and a range of other achievements. Children are also encouraged to bring in trophies and certificates gained in out of school activities.

On Tuesday we often have Class Assemblies. These tend to be class assemblies and we invite parents, carers and families to join us for their child's class assembly. Parents and Carers are also invited to our special Prize Day assemblies which are held at the end of every term.

A range of visitors from our community often lead assemblies at other times during the school term. These include people from our local churches, high schools, charities and organisations. We also have themed assemblies at certain points in  the year when we are taking part in national days or events like Safer Internet Day and British Science Week.

On days when we do not have whole-school assemblies, all year groups ensure that they take part in an act of worship in their own class.
